Russell Crowe, Ridley Scott

Gladiator was what kicked everything off with these two.  The oscar winning movie which starred Russell Crowe as a General turned Slave turned Gladiator, showed that these two really know how to work together.  After that, they took another shot at success with a film called “A Good Year”.  This was in a totally different direction than “Gladiator” and suffered as a result.  It wasn’t that the acting or direction was poor, it just wasn’t a story people were interesting in seeing.

The latest movie the two have worked together on is another smash success.  Teamed up with Denzel Washington, “American Gangster” has been a huge hit for the two.  Everything body loves gangster movies, and these two together with Denzel Washington thrown into the mix can only make a movie better.

On the heels of “American Gangster”, Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott have two more movies lined up for 2008 and 2009.  In 2008, “Body of Lies” will be released with Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio starring on screen.  The story centers on a former journalist injured in the Iraq War that is hired by the CIA to track down an Al Qaeada leader in Jordan.

In 2009, “Nottingham” will be released.  This is obviously a retelling of the legendary story of “Robin Hood”.   A love triangle forms between the legendary do-gooder Robin Hood, his Maid Marion and the archer’s arch nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham.  I’ve been waiting for another Robin Hood movie, I just had a feeling it was on the way.

Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase

Poor Chevy has not been able to match the success that had in the 80s with his “Vacation” and “Fletch” films. Since then he has been in various projects, none of which were outstanding. Some notable performances in “Nothing But Trouble” with Demi Moore and John Candy in 1991, and also in “Cops in Robbersons”. You may also remember he had a small part in “Orange County”. He also did a voice in one episode of “Family Guy” as, who else, Clark Griswold. His upcoming project is “Jack and the Beanstalk”.

Beverly D’Angelo

Beverly D’Angelo

Unfortunately, Beverly D’Angelo hasn’t had much going for her since “Christmas Vacation” other than a role in an amazing movie, “American History X”. Other than that her resume has remained pretty unimpressive, other than being Al Pacino’s other half. She had roles in a film called “Summer Catch” and the hit HBO show “Entourage”. She also shared a part in that “Family Guy” episode that Chevy was in. Coming up for her is a part in “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”.

Doris Roberts

Doris Roberts

Her career has been comprised of televisions shows since “Christmas Vacation”, other than the Billy Crystal movie, “My Giant”. Some show include, “Murder She Wrote”, “Walker: Texas Ranger”, and “Step by Step”. She is best known for playing Ray Ramano’s mom in “Everybody Loves Raymond”. Her next project is called “Play the Game”.

Juliette Lewis
Juliette Lewis

She has actually had a pretty good film career post “Christmas Vacation”. She has starred in such films as, “Natural Born Killers”, “Cape Fear”, “From Dusk Til Dawn”, and “Kalifornia”, which starred then boyfriend Brad Pitt. After adding a few more pretty good movies to this list, she has taken a break from acting to pursue music. She is currentlytouring with her rock group.

Randy Quaid

Randy Quaid

The older brother of actor Dennis Quaid has managed to sneak himself into quite a few movies since “Christmas Vacation”, some good, some not so good. A few of those would be, “Hard Rain”, “Brokeback Mountain”, and “The Ice Harvest”. You also may remember him as a crazy fighter pilot in a little movie called, “Independence Day”. His upcoming project is called “Balls Out: The Gary Houseman Story”, costarring Sean William Scott.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia has been in a few television shows since this movie and made a few appearances in films, which have all been eclipsed by a tv giant known as “Seinfeld”. This forever made her known as “Elaine”. Since the show ended, she has managed to do something very rare in the television world, which is get another hit show called, “The New Adventures of Old Christine”. She is continuing her work on this program.

David from Rosanne

Johnny Galecki

Most people reading this may not even know who this guy is, and if you do, you’re probably saying, “Hey, that’s David from Roseanne”, and you’re right. His gig on “Roseanne” has been the peak of his career to this point. He has been in a couple of decent movies though, such as, “The Suicide Kings” and “Vanilla Sky”. His current work can be seen on the show, “The Big Bang Theory”.

Parental Advisory: Sesame Street

sesame street

The early episodes of Sesame Street are now available on DVD.  Make sure you screen them before you let your kids watch them though.  Apparently our parents didn’t love us enough and let us watch this filth.  How could our parents have allowed this.  The masonry on the dingy brownstone at 123 Sesame Street, where the closeted Ernie and Bert shared a dismal basement apartment, was deteriorating. Cookie Monster was on a fast track to diabetes. Oscar’s depression was untreated. Prozacky Elmo didn’t exist.  It’s amazing that some of us came out normal.

The old “Sesame Street” is not for the faint of heart, and certainly not for softies born since 1998, when the chipper “Elmo’s World” started. Anyone who considers bull markets normal, extracurricular activities sacrosanct and New York a tidy, governable place — well, the original “Sesame Street” might hurt your feelings.

The first teaser poster of the upcoming Robert Zemeckis remake of “A Christmas Carol”.  The movie stars Jim Carrey as Scrooge.  It will use the same animation technology that was in the Polar Express and Beowolf.  Jim Carrey will also voice the various ghosts in the film.

ZyZZyx Road

We’ve all heard about box office bombs such as Waterworld, Gigli, Battlefield Earth, and The Adventures of Pluto Nash, but the honor of the lowest grossing movie in history goes to a little movie called, “Zyzzyx Road”.  The movie earned a total of $30 dollars at the box office.  That’s not a typo, I really mean it earned at total of three 10 dollar bills.  This movie was released in one theater on February 25th of 2006, where it played for six days and earned 30 dollars total.  I mean damn, didn’t the actors even want to see it?

The movie stars the now famous Katherine Heigl of “Grey’s Anatomy” fame, and Tom Sizemore.   I would tell you what it’s about, but hey, you’ll never watch it anyway.

21 Movie

Release Date: March 28th, 2008

21 is based on the true story of the MIT students who beat Vegas.  The story is actually very interesting if it stays true to actual events.  The story is about a group of MIT students who train with one of their teachers to count cards and become a very effective card counting team.  They manage to walk away with millions of dollars from Las Vegas casinos, at least until the casinos start to catch on.

I am Legend

Warner Bros. screened the new Will Smith movie “I Am Legend” and has ordered a reshoot of the films ending.  It hasn’t been said for sure what the problem is, just that the studio isn’t happy.  Maybe they want a quicker paced more action packed ending.  This movie is about a month from release, so they better double time it if they want to get it out in time.

Zachary Quinto as Spock

Zachary_Quinto_Spock

Star Trek XI

Here we are, the first image of Zachary Quinto (Heroes) in costume as Spock in J.J. Abrams Star Trek XI. I must admit, he actually looks pretty convincing as Spock. He was a good pick I guess. Let’s just hope the rest of the cast is as convincing.
