Dog dies: $155K later, get’s cloned

Nina and Edgar Otto had a dog, and that dog died of cancer in January 2008. However, about 5 years ago the couple had some of his DNA frozen, expecting the ending to occur like it has. The Ottos paid $155,000 in a San Francisco dog-cloning auction last July. The company that did the cloning was BioArts International in South Korea.
The couple says he’s the exact same dog too. Not just same breed, but the same dog. Now, obviously he doesn’t have any memories, but it makes me wonder….do you think that he’ll develop cancer too, since it was in his DNA? that would be unfortunate.
Apparently he’s the first commercially cloned puppy in US. I bet this sort of thing will really start to take off. Think of all the rich people who would rather duplicate a family member than add a new one (celebrities primarily).
But, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before a human gets cloned…..
